We believe that for decades there has been a gap in menstrual care for students - especially for elementary and middle school students. When a student either starts their period for the first time or is caught off guard by an irregular or heavy period while at school, even today there is an element of shame and a stigma associated with menstruation. That shouldn’t be the case since it is normal, natural, and something that affects approximately 50% of the population.
Our mission:
To eliminate the shame and stigma of menstruation for this generation of students in Hampton Roads and beyond.
No shame. Period. was created to provide period packs, pamphlets, and pants to school nurses to share with their students and help them get what they need and get back to class comfortably and confidently.
Our nonprofit currently organizes over one hundred and fifty volunteers and has compiled and delivered more than 7,000 period packs to schools all over southeastern Virginia, encompassing 26 school districts and 312 schools from Essex to Virginia Beach.
